  4. The Verify Door has come a long way since its first release on 6-19-1990.
  5. The earliest part of this history file has been deleted in an effort
  6. to make the final zip file a little smaller.

  8. 08-10-92 v1.24
  9.    * Fixed an unintentional oops where the unregistered version 1.23 would
  10.      not update the user security level. No other changes were made.
  11.  
  12. 08-02-92 v1.23
  13.    * Added sysop configuration for optional user expiration date update.
  14.    * Fixed a typo in the WELCOMEG file
  15.    * Added multi-lingual (foreign language) capability (finally!)
  16.    * Added the ability for TVD to enter a comment on comment line
  17.      #2 of the user's record if verification is UNsuccessful

  19. 04-04-92 v1.22

  21.    * TVD is now written with 286/386 specific code
  22.    * Added the ability for TVD to turn off MNP on an MNP modem when
  23.      dialing out to a non-mnp modem. Provision was also made for
  24.      sysops who do not have an error correcting modem
  25.    * Added the ability for TVD to dial long distance at different times
  26.      on Saturday and Sunday than during the week (See docs on the TCBVTIME file)
  27.    * Added the ability for TVD to use either the old or new TCBVTIME
  28.      file formats to allow for sysops who forget/do not wish to update it,
  29.      and to allow for mixed formats within the file.
  30.    * Added the ability for the sysop to abort TVD by hitting SHIFT+F1 at just
  31.      about any time during TVD execution.
  32.    * Added automatic desqview detection. If desqview is detected, TVD will now
  33.      relinquish time slices while waiting for keyboard/user input and during
  34.      timer countdowns if desqview is detected.
  35.    * Upgrade directions were causing some confusion and have been updated
  36.

  38. 01-24-92 v1.21 The Verify Door v1.21 implements a new and faster data
  39.      transmission routine that implements improved RTS/CTS flow control
  40.      and should be compatible with a wider range of modem brands and setups.
  41.      TVD is also now much faster at detecting lost carrier.

  43. 01-04-92 v1.20 The Verify Door v1.20 implements sysop suggested
  44.      enhancements to the log file output and status bar display.
  45.  
  46.    * The log now gives much more detail about what the user does when in TVD.
  47.    * Status bar now displays various countdown timers to aid the sysop
  48.      in 'tweaking' the door's configurable time delays.
  49.    * Enhanced modem no response timeout routines
  50.    * No Answer timeout feature was added to TVD and is included in the
  51.      modem no response timeout setting.
  52.    * Added DOS Errorlevel output (registered version only) when TVD
  53.      finishes execution. (See docs)
  54.    * Added automatic pulse dialing detection and delays to allow for
  55.      more reliable pulse dialing in appropriate places in TVD

  57. 11-22-91 v1.19 The Verify Door v1.18 did not have any known bugs and this
  58.    release contains some suggested enhancements.

  60.    TVD door documentation has been updated to include dialing string setup
  61.    information that up to this point has been available only to users who
  62.    could 'read between the lines'.

  64.    Added features this release:
  65.    * Separately configurable number of dial-out attempts for both long distance
  66.      and local calling.
  67.    * Configurable modem no-response timeout (in seconds)
  68.  
  69.    Further changes have been made in the setup program to make it run a
  70.    little better. Setup will now upgrade the config file(s) to be
  71.    compatible with this new version of TVD. (Please see UPGRADE.DOC)

  73. 07-27-91 v1.18 The Verify Door v1.17 did not have any bugs and has proven
  74.    to  be a very reliable version. The setup program wasn't perfect, though,
  75.    so some changes have been made to allow it to find it's way around your
  76.    system more accurately.

  78.    Some enhancements have been made to the v1.17 code such as detecting
  79.    a user with an Error Correcting modem, enhanced dialing string abilities,
  80.    and a few other goodies talked about in the WHATSNEW file.
